Heart Stopping Season

Pete and Steve not only grew up in Iowa City, but are University of Iowa alumni as well. So, as our friend Mike Sullivan said, they "bleed black and gold"! Bob first grew to love college athletics when we moved to Fayetteville, home to the Arkansas Razorbacks. They were his "team of choice" to follow until we settled in the land of the corn and we all became "Hawkeye" crazy. We arrived in IC in 1985 and watched the team go to the Rose Bowl. Through the years we had season tickets to football and basketball. We have lots of fun memories of memorable games.

This year we've been able to again rekindle our Hawkeye spirit. The football team had a great start and lots of the games have been nationally televised and available to us. The only problem is that many of these games have been razor close and it's a little hard on the heart. When we were back visiting Pete, we all held our breath at the quarterback pass with 2 seconds left that won the game! Talk about EXCITEMENT!. Although, they have lost their last two games, it looks like they will go to a good Bowl game and we'll certainly be watching.

It was wonderful to watch Pete and Steve grow up in Iowa City. Along with the excellent education they received, they made life long friends. Although they are very different people, it warms my heart that they have a mutual love of the "Hawkeye's"...a bond, I know, they will always share. GO HAWKS!!!!
