Faster Than A Speeding Bullet

We recently arrived home from another fun time with the Garvey's. It is always great to visit with them at their "winter" home, with the usual relaxation, wonderful meals, wine, and interesting conversation. Geri and I pretty much talk non-stop and I'm surprised we both don't come away with acute laryngitis. We've spent lots of time with the Garvey's over the years and I always have known that Geri gets things done "fast". Still, it really hit me this time how FAST she really is! I'd be helping out in the kitchen, turn around and another task was completed. One time she was cutting an onion and I almost yelled, "Watch out, you'll cut your hand"! But, not to worry, as she skillfully sliced that onion with ease! We had crock pot chili one night, with cornbread on the side. Not sure how she did it, but I turned my head one way and when I turned back, presto....the cornbread was ready to pop in the oven.

I guess the only downside to this is that Geri "claims" she has broken some dishes and glasses in her day. In fact, she has sworn herself off "glass" glasses due to this. With the speed we witnessed, however, nothing was broken, just done quickly and well. She treated us to her famous "Deer Valley" cinnamon rolls and they seemed to be done quick as a wink. It was such a treat to munch on these all week. In fact, Geri is so entertaining to watch in the kitchen, that I suggested she get her own TV cooking show. She laughed and laughed at that, but I believe she'd be quite successful. Geri is not only quick in the kitchen, but masterfully fixed a sleeve on Bob's favorite summer jacket. He's been going around with this loose sleeve for years and Geri fixed it in a flash. Just think how much we could all accomplish in this world if we were so talented? Alas, I think they broke the mold with my dear friend and I am so happy to have her in my life as I learn to "pick up the pace a bit" from the master of speed!
