Happy Birthday, Hannah

Today is Hannah's fifth birthday. When I think back to five years ago, I can't believe all the changes that have taken place in her life and ours. I'll never forget the excitement on hearing the news of her birth on my cell phone outside of the CVS pharmacy in Virginia. Anne's Mom, Jane, had to call me as Pete was shaking too much to make the call. He was such a proud Dad!

It has been so wonderful seeing Hannah become the sweet girl she is today. She loves to dance and we are always treated to her dance routines when we visit. When she was younger, her favorite animals were elephants, but now she is a solid horse lover. She had a great birthday party this past Saturday at the local county park stables. Today she told us she even rode two horses that day.

Like most girls, Hannah loves princesses and the color pink. She enjoys reading and is a great big sister. We love spending time with her, watching her learn about the world. As most grandparents can attest to, these grandchildren bring such joy into your life by just being themselves. There is no pressure to raise them, just the happiness that comes with watching them grow. Happy birthday, dear Hannah, and thanks for being you!
